Testimonials from Mississauga Residents
If I could give more than 5 stars I would. This was an invaluable service for my 87 year old mom after her surgery, who’s doing great now. Thank you to her fantastic physiotherapist who always showed up at our home with kindness and professionalism.
I loved how easy it was to communicate and connect with Therapia and their physiotherapist. It took no time before a licensed professional was at my door ready to help with my arthritic pain.
Absolutely wonderful home physio treatments. Great concept!
A friend suggested Therapia to me for a foot fracture that had me badly limping even after the bone healed. It was a challenge to move around, so the home physio was truly a Godsend. In just a few weeks my physiotherapist had me walking again. Highly recommended!
Activities and Resources in Mississauga to Help Speed Up Your Recovery
As Canada's sixth-largest city, Mississauga continues to expand, with more recreation centres, and health and wellness establishments cropping up every day. All such places are ready for you to explore as you move through the stages of your recovery.
If you haven't visited Erindale Park yet, a pleasant surprise awaits you. Considered Mississauga's hidden gem, it's a choice location for your daily cardio exercises. Along the banks of Credit River runs the king-size Culham Trail, which stretches across 222 acres. Being a well-maintained, extensive, and flat path, it's ideal for taking a stroll, jog or bike ride. Stretch your limbs or have a rest at one of the many benches and picnic tables dotting the park. Near the main entrance, there's much open space to enjoy a game of frisbee or paddle racquet tennis with a friend. A playground, BBQ grills, toboggan hills, plus activities like canoeing and catch-and-release fishing are equally available. With a sizable parking lot, you'll have no trouble finding a spot. It can get a bit crowded, but this is a testament to how great the place is.
Mississauga is home to several beautiful parks, but the award goes to Kariya Park, for the most aesthetically pleasing one. This Japanese-inspired garden with adorable walkways and an enchanting duck pond pays tribute to Kariya City in Japan. When visiting this natural refuge hidden at the core of Mississauga’s metropolis, you won’t believe it’s only a short distance from Square One Shopping Centre. Stroll through picturesque arrangements of cherry blossoms, rhododendrons, pines, ginkgo and sweetgum trees, or relax by the pond. It’s the perfect opportunity to let go of stress and get some fresh air. Aside from enjoying a beautiful promenade, try flowing through a few yoga poses or meditating in a quiet shady spot. Another highlight you’ll relish is the Japanese-style pavilion, divided into two sections representing Mississauga and Kariya, with a friendship bell in the center. If you wish to see the cherry blossoms in full bloom, the best time to visit Kariya Park is around the second week of May.
Square One Shopping Centre
No matter how much you cherish being outdoors, some days are far too hot or cold, and it's preferable to remain indoors. A way to do so and maintain your cardio exercises is to go mall walking. Square One Shopping Centre opens its doors at 6 am every day and offers coat-checking services for a hands-free experience. It's the ideal climate-controlled indoor space, large enough to accommodate the right walking distance for you. Stride powerfully or meander leisurely, free of charge, down near-empty halls filled with the enticing aroma of fresh coffee and baked pastries. Maybe even treat yourself to both later. How many loops will you take? It's all up to you, but at least you won't have to struggle against the elements.
Meadowvale Community Centre
From walking track access to swimming pools to therapeutic programs, Meadowvale Community Centre is a one-stop-shop for your wellness routines and physio exercises. There’s even a dry sauna available for a grand finale to any workout. The centre’s acclaimed highlight is the two-lane walking track situated in the fitness area, and it comes with a beautiful view of Lake Aquitaine. As for the pool, it’s a 25 meter, 6-lane rectangular one with a 1-metre diving board. Are you still working through an injury? You’ll find relief in the therapeutic warm-water pool, which has a comfortable depth of .90 to 1.8 meters and includes a hydro bench and accessible ramp. What’s another bonus this place has to offer? One of their certified exercise counsellors will give you a free 45-minute Orientation Session.
Yoga is an excellent way to develop strength in stabilizer and mobilizer muscles. It also boosts your flexibility, which enhances mobility and corrects posture. If you’re after those qualities, head to YogaVisions Centre, located in Meadowvale North Shopping Centre. They provide a state-of-the-art facility furnished with complimentary yoga props like blocks, blankets, straps and cushions to optimize your practice. Being a regular-temperature studio, YogaVision offers classes to suit beginners and advanced students. Whether you’re looking for something gentle after surgery, or you have a limited range of motion in general and need to take things slow, they will accommodate your needs. Specific classes you might find appealing are Gentle Yoga, Slow Flow (Vinyasa 1), Yin Yoga (Hatha 1), Yoga Foundations (Hatha 1), and Strong and Flexible (Hatha 1).
A Personal Letter from one of our Mississauga Physiotherapists
I’m Spruha Vaishnav, and I’m proud to be a physiotherapist with Therapia in the city of Mississauga. I’ve lived in Mississauga for over 10 years and I’ve seen it grow and expand immensely. As a physiotherapist who enjoys working with different age groups and cultural backgrounds, the diverse population of Mississauga is truly a delight.
I joined Therapia because I wanted to treat patients where they could feel 100% comfortable and safe – this is where I see the best results. I love having one-on-one interactions with my patients so I can address every concern without feeling rushed.
One of my first patients with Therapia was 99 years old when I began their treatment. With a consistent, supervised home exercise program, they were stronger on their 100th birthday than at the start of their home physiotherapy. Had it not been for Therapia’s in-home service, this patient may have never sought the care they needed and seen this result.
I encourage anyone who feels they don’t have the time, energy or confidence to seek out physiotherapy to book an appointment and experience the convenience of Therapia. We are here to help you achieve your goals, whatever they may be. And what better place to achieve them than in the comfort of your own home?
Hope to treat you soon!
