Testimonials from Calgary Residents
The speed at which I heard from a specialist from Therapia was unprecedented. I booked my first in-home treatment for my back pain with a physiotherapist that same day. 3 weeks later, I was pain-free and able to move around with more ease. Thank you!
Thanks to Therapia’s in home physio, my husband is on the way to wellness after going through bi-lateral knee replacement surgery. Communication was also super easy and pleasant.
My wife and I were both surprised and pleased to discover that Therapia’s home physio program was far better than what the hospital provided, when it came to her post hip-surgery treatments. Thank you for assisting us through a challenging time!
Outstanding and brilliant user experience. Quick booking and utmost professionalism.
Activities and Resources in Calgary to Help Speed Up Your Recovery
As a Calgary citizen, you are fortunate to have easy access to so many beautiful parks and wildlife reserves. Calgary also has incredible fitness clubs, community centres and pilates studios. We encourage you to visit some of the following locations to assist you in your rehabilitation.
Located in the northwest of Calgary, Confederation Park brings you 162 acres of awesome nature to explore. It's one of the largest parks in the city, spanning across several communities like Cambrian Heights, Rosemont, Collingwood and Mount Pleasant. Whether you decide to bike, run or walk, this clean and well-kept park with sprawling green fields will be a joy to travel through. Rollerbladers, you'll be satisfied with smoothly-paved even surfaces. Along the route are a few baseball diamonds and nearby bathrooms, tennis courts, playgrounds and lots of picnic tables and BBQs. If your passion is frisbee, soccer or racquetball, the wide-open green spaces here are calling your name. If you forget to bring your water bottle, it's no problem. You'll encounter several drinking fountains across the entire park. There's even a fountain designated for dogs! In the wintertime, you can enjoy tobogganing on a few of the slopes, or skating on the ice rink.
In the southwest part of the city, near the mouth of the Elbow River, you'll find the sensational Weaselhead Flats. Yet another piece of paradise in the city, it's suitable if you enjoy a gorgeous scenic backdrop when working out! Easily access this sanctuary from the inner cities spanning the Glenmore Reservoir. Once inside, you'll discover the main attraction there: a diversity of plants and wildlife to inspire you along the expedition. Get your camera ready; you may spot a black bear, coyote, or deer peeking at you through the shrubs en route. Several species of birds will salute you along the way, including Common Loons, Tundra Swans and three species of hummingbirds. The park has natural hiking trails and paved biking paths. Cross-country skiing is another favourite sport that visitors like to engage in during winter. You can find seasonal washrooms, water fountains, and lots of benches dispersed across this park.
The most common causes of musculoskeletal injuries are: lifting or lowering objects, falls, and repetitive movement or strain. Do any of those sound familiar as preludes to an injury you have been struggling with? It’s no surprise. Lack of strength in one or more muscles tends to be the main culprit. Naturally, the best way to counter this problem is to develop strength in stabilizing and mobilizing muscles. Enter Pilates: perhaps one of the most misunderstood forms of exercise on the planet. People might presume that Pilates is like yoga, that it’s far too challenging, or that you need equipment for it. Let the experts of Club Pilates convince you otherwise, and help you develop strength, endurance and sheer confidence like you’ve never known it. Their staff are knowledgeable and kind, and their classes are challenging and fun all in the same go. This low-impact activity is sure to transform your life in many positive ways.
Urban Athlete Fitness Studio
"There's something here for everyone" - that’s what clients are saying about Urban Athlete Fitness Studio. We suspect you'll have similar sentiments, as they have a broad selection of classes to suit just about any personality type and fitness goal. The list includes Yoga and Meditation, Zumba, Cycle, Pilates, Barre, Cardio Plus, Absolute Core, and more. So, what's your intention? Do you want to boost endurance, increase strength, tone muscles or increase flexibility? Urban Athlete can help you meet your goals, whatever they are. In addition to a fantastic roster of classes, they've got the latest state-of-the-art elliptical trainers, treadmills, upright and recumbent bikes. Surprisingly, the weight room is never too crowded. Their teachers are top-notch and genuinely friendly. Two other bonuses for you include electronic lockers, which don’t require you to bring a lock or carry a key around, and complimentary towels and soap.
Renfrew Aquatic & Recreation Centre
What’s a great form of exercise if you have chronic pain or repetitive strains? A low-impact sport such as swimming, of course. Water’s buoyancy will relieve pressure off your joints and release muscle tension that’s otherwise hard to shake off. If your physiotherapist has assigned water-related exercises for you, why not practice them at Renfrew Aquatic & Recreation Centre? Their main saltwater pool, which is well-maintained and clean, is perfect for lane swimming exercises. Plus they have other admirable amenities, like a diving tank, hot tub and steam room. Apparently that hot tub is one of the best in town and visitors are fond of its depth. A great tip for you: use the steam room and then have a cold shower immediately after. This activates the vagus nerve, helping to reduce pain and inflammation. One last perk is the price - it’s very affordable.
A Personal Letter from one of our Calgary Physiotherapists
My name is Kashish Goel, and I’m proud to be a physiotherapist with Therapia in the city of Calgary, AB. I moved to Calgary about 2 years ago. Before that, I was working in Vancouver. As a physiotherapist who enjoys working with different age groups and cultural backgrounds, the diverse population of Calgary is truly a joy to serve.
I joined Therapia because I wanted to treat patients where they could feel 100% comfortable and safe – this is where I witness the best results. I delight in having one-on-one interactions with my patients so that I can address each of their concerns without feeling rushed.
Since joining, I have treated a diverse population with a range of conditions. A 14-year-old patient with a rare genetic disorder, an 88-year-old patient with a stroke, and a patient with severe GBS are among the few. All my patients have shown tremendous improvement in their functions, and their quality of life is improved.
I encourage anyone who feels they don’t have the time, energy, or confidence for physiotherapy to book an appointment and experience the convenience of Therapia. We are here to help you accomplish your goals, whatever they may be. And what better place than in the comfort of your own home?
Hope to treat you soon!
