Testimonials from Vaughan Residents
My 82 year old mother has benefited tremendously from her home physical therapy. Thank you for caring so well for her. I will recommend your services to my family and friends.
Therapia was recommended to me by a coworker, but at first, I had some doubts about home physiotherapy. My therapist is wonderful in helping me get physically stronger as I have knee issues from a skiing injury. She is professional, timely and our sessions are actually fun.
My surgeon recommended Therapia for physiotherapy in my home, and I couldn’t be more pleased with the positive results after just a few weeks. I very much recommend these first-rate treatments.
Excellent experience, all the way through. The care and treatment I received for my hip after surgery surpassed my expectations and I’m so happy to be working one to one with a physiotherapist in my home. I highly recommend Therapia’s services.
Activities and Resources in Vaughan to Help Speed Up Your Recovery
On a mission to get back to wellness? The city of Vaughan readily offers you that chance with all its parks, recreational centres, nature trails and fitness clubs. Below are a few places we recommend to help you create lasting changes.
Nashville Conservation Reserve
This secluded nature reserve has much to offer to outdoor enthusiasts, with its enchanting network of trails to wander down. Perfect for hiking in the summer or cross-country skiing in the winter, it will present you with the classic wilderness experience. The landscape will morph several times throughout your hike, giving you different backdrops of beauty to marvel over. Get ready for a challenge, as the trails come with multiple changes in elevation. These are great opportunities to boost the intensity of your cardiovascular workout. The trails are unpaved, so they tend to get muddy during the wet seasons. Keep this in mind before heading out in those expensive orthopedic shoes! Lastly, please don’t bring anything you’ll need to discard, like a water bottle or coffee cup, as there are no trash cans en route, and it’s best to remain hands-free as you trek. You can find the entrance to the trail where Kirby road and Huntington road intersect.
Marita Payne Park
A long, winding trail through the woods might seem daunting to you if you are working through an injury or you tire easily. In that case, the path running through Marita Payne Park would be a safer alternative. Shorter and paved, this lovely path is a gentler route, ideal for relaxing bike rides, leisurely walks, or light jogs. If your goal is to introduce a mild degree of movement with minimal impact, this will be the place for it. The north part of the park includes a lovely pond to give your feet a rest while watching the ducks. The towering trees that line the path provide substantial shade and are suitable places to lay down your yoga mat and flow through sun salutations or meditate. With a few playgrounds nestled across the park, your kids will find this place enjoyable too.
Maybe you’ve fully healed from an injury, and you’re ready to step-up the intensity of your workouts. Where to now? Why not Studio Lagree, for full-body workouts that combine strength, core, cardio/circuit training and stretching. The Lagree Fitness Method will appeal to you whether you’re a woman or a man and will deliver results fast. Their sleek, modern studios are stocked with the latest M3 Megaformer™ machines, which introduce a system of resistance and counter-resistance to keep muscles under constant tension. That’s the key to getting rapid results! Brace yourself - you’ll probably want to start with their “Back 2 Basics” class, where they’ll teach you the fundamentals, like how to operate the Megaformer machines and perform the Lagree fitness moves. Vaughan Mills Mall
On days that are too scorching or nippy, thankfully, you have the option of mall walking. Rising early is part of the challenge, but you’ll be rewarded with a good parking spot near the entrance, and near-empty hallways to use as your walking track. Being a massive building, Vaughan Mills Mall is the perfect climate-controlled environment to practice exercises at the peak of winter or summer. What else can you look forward to from this experience? Coat and bag-checking services for a hands-free walking experience, luscious aromas wafting through the air and waiting to greet your nose, and positive and motivating energy from other mall walkers. Lace-up those running shoes and head on over to Vaughan Mills Mall!
Modo Yoga Maple
Picture this: you’re sprawled on your yoga mat, in the final resting pose known as savasana, after flowing through a vigorous vinyasa class. Beads of sweat trace their way down your skin, dripping onto your mat as your heartbeat slows down. And the instructor’s voice, sweet and melodic, purrs soothingly, lulling you into a deeper state of calm, as you lay there limber and pain-free. Sounds like heaven, doesn’t it? Well, this cathartic experience can be yours at Modo Yoga Maple. They offer both heated and reduced-heat yoga classes for beginners and advanced students. If you find the Vinyasa Flow class too intense, try a Modo, Modo Flow, Barre, or Yang/Yin class instead.
A Personal Letter from one of our Vaughan Physiotherapists
Hi! I’m Zev Herskovits, a proud physiotherapist with Therapia, in the city of Vaughan. I have lived here for the last 20 years and have remained an active member of the community.
My educational background includes a Bachelor in Kinesiology and Health Sciences (Honours), a Master of Science in Physiotherapy, and a Doctorate in Physical Therapy. Further education consists of a Certificate in Acupuncture and Dry Needling, a Manual Therapy Certificate, and a variety of courses ranging from general exercise prescription to the use of oxygen in clinical and hospital settings.
I strive to accommodate my patients with the utmost care through continuing education and embracing my full scope of practice. With a diversity of patients whose conditions range from musculoskeletal to neurological to cardio-respiratory, I provide treatments for them at the clinic, home and in hospital.
I recall numerous examples of patients who have significantly benefited from having someone come to their home to provide care. Standing out the most are the instances in which I attend to patients who are isolated and feel as though the health system could do more for them — and it certainly can. That’s why I joined Therapia. Because I sincerely believe so much more can be accomplished when we treat a patient in a place they feel safe and comfortable, while maintaining an ongoing, supportive, and professional relationship with them.
We at Therapia entered this profession to help those in need, in whatever way we can. Please reach out to us if you are seeking care for yourself or a loved one. We are here to help!
